Make Up Tips For Mature Skin
Makeup for women over 50 is all about the dew, but isn’t that the case for any age? But for mature skin even more! Your primary focus is to think about hydration, plumping, and smoothing the skin as much as possible, before applying any makeup. The rule of less is more should be your mantra!
I’ve been embracing the clean girl makeup look for a long time. With age, it was a wiser choice. This is a style of makeup that is fresh, simple, and natural-looking. It focuses on enhancing the individual's natural features without looking heavy or overly made-up. This makeup style is often what I choose for everyday wear or more natural, understated events. It’s light, neutral colors and minimal product usage, with a focus on achieving a glowing, healthy complexion. Leave any product that’s prone to caking on the skin.
There are thousands of beauty tricks that make a difference in your looks—especially if you’re a woman age 40-plus. The goal is to always look like yourself, but with a touch of makeup to enhance your natural beauty. The whole idea of less is more, that women shouldn’t be slaves to dozens of makeup products, is what I believe in. However, I do LOVE products but use them wisely, and you should too! Let me show you a shortcut to the best of the best. As a facial artist and wellness maven for decades, one thing I know is beauty.
Cleanser matters, as the first step in your skin routine you want it to calm, balance the PH, and keep the natural oils intact.
Hydrated skin looks younger and less wrinkled. Think hydrating face base infused with radiance-boosting ingredients.
Facial Massage and using gua sha and beauty tools can assist in de-puffing, awakening, cooling the skin, and helping it to glow.
Keep it effortless. Ditch long makeup routines.
Achieving flawless makeup starts with good skin and a great skincare routine.
It’s ok to rest and be a little lazy. However, small efforts go a long way.
Gentle exfoliation is crucial to consider a smooth palette, not just the face but the lips too. Check this selection from my Amazon store.
A well-placed bronzer never hurts, after all, a sun-kissed glow is a win at any age. The Supergoop glowscreen gives you a glowy light finish with SPF protection too!
TIMELESS NOT TRENDY TIPS
Use your fingers, makeup sponges are trendy and suck up a lot of face makeup. You end up using more makeup for each application and running out of that bottle or tube very quickly. The more expensive teardrop sponge is trendy, but those triangular ones have been around forever and do the job just as well.
Multi-tasking products with formulas that marry the benefits of skincare and makeup, like those that lock in hydration and promote a dewy finish while protecting skin from UV rays. The Faith Cosmetics Gel Foundation is a serum-rich feeling foundation. Loaded with skin-loving antioxidants. Provides light, flawless coverage—clean, soft, and hydrating. It doesn’t flake or cake in fine lines—appears like a second bare skin. Try it to believe it!
If you crave an airbrushed, flawless finish? A finishing powder is what you want. Finishing powder helps your makeup look polished and professional without looking dusty or done up. Generally, these powders are formulated with light-reflecting mineral ingredients that help keep skin looking dewy and radiant. Finishing powder allows your true skin to shine. Instead of covering up, it enhances. Instead of forcing your makeup to adhere to your skin, it allows it to reflect light and draw out your natural radiance while creating a flawless finish.
Keep Lashes Looking Natural. Ditch the long overdone extensions. If you must get extensions, choose a graduated length. Avoid going past the number 9/10 in length. This will weigh down your eyes and make them look droopy. I love the Faith Cosmetics GLOW LASH formula, it’s a gentle lash growth system that works! Grow out your natural lashes without any chemicals.
Do not wear any eye shadow at all (and especially no contour eye shadow in the crease because it gives the appearance of deepening the crease). A little bit of mascara is OK. It’s also crucial to consider formulas that won’t settle into the skin or crease into wrinkles.
Primers and setting spray the makeup to keep it fresh.
Although it may be counterintuitive, it is better to apply less makeup as you age, rather than more. You may feel like more lines and wrinkles need more coverage, but heavy foundations and powdery blushes tend to sink into creases in the skin, thus exaggerating their appearance. As we get older, our skin changes—from more fine lines and wrinkles to less elasticity, changes in skin tone and texture, and more. But that doesn’t mean you can’t feel gorgeous and confident in your skin today and every day to come.
Embrace where you are and be bold with your fashion, hairstyle, lips, and optical fashion, and glow beyond 50!
