Sacral Chakra: Orange Love
If you don't know anything about the chakras this is a brief summary and why they are important. There are 7 main chakras. The word chakra is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or spinning wheel. Think of a spinning vortex or wheel of energy. They are located vertically up the spine starting at the base of the spine going all the way up to the crown area of the head and they all have a color associated with it. All colors are individual frequencies of energy, and each of our chakras vibrates at a specific color frequency; which means that our chakras are energy vortexes that vibrate at specific vibrational levels of color. Besides their role in maintaining our physical health, chakras also oversee various life issues. Each of the 7 main chakras reflects essential aspects of consciousness and governs our lives, loves, learning and spiritual awakening.
Sacral Chakra:
The Sacral Chakra is the 2nd chakra located in the lower abdomen and pelvic area and its color is ORANGE. This chakra governs the experience for our lives through feelings and sensations. It's the center of emotion, pleasure, enjoyment, sensuality, intimacy, and connection. The energy of this chakra allows you to let go, to move, and to feel change and transformation occurring within your body. It allows you to experience this moment as it is, in its own fullness. Winters energy is all about the same -letting go- a stillness that's transforming.
Eating cooked, warm, spicy foods can provide healing and replenishing energy. Prepare strengthening soups, slow-simmered stews, roasted root vegetables, and warm drinks. Add garlic, ginger, black pepper, cloves, turmeric to increase circulation and a warming effect and reduce inflammation. Minimize your intake of raw vegetables, salad greens, and cold drinks. These are better in the springtime awakening. Eating more orange foods in the winter to encourage healing and openness can also benefit the body and the sacral chakra. Orange is also color of vitality, balance and strength. It's associated with the gentle and positive nurturing of ourselves which moves us on our path of growth and development. We can all benefit from more positive nurturing in the winter!
